Final directorial venture of Jayamanne ‘Diriya Dhoni’

One of the greatest cinematographers in Sri Lanka the late Andrew Jayamanna’s last tele direction, ‘Diriya Dhoni’ will be telecast every Thursday and Friday at 7.27 pm starting from October 30 on Rupavahini.

Mr. Jayamanna who had directed a number of teledramas to his credit passed away on August 28, and he co-directed his last teleplay with Deepthi Wijetunga.
The teledrama revolves around a midwife attached to the government’s health services, and many incidents she comes across in her yeoman service to the people in the poor and remote village. She has to face many an obstacle when she carries out her duties but at the same time she experiences an enormous contentment in serving the ignorant villagers.

It stars Semini Iddamalgoda, Roshan Pilapitiya, Deepani Silva, Richard Weerakkody, Kusum Maldeniya, Milinda Perera, Pujitha de Mel, Chitra Wakista, Lal Kularatne, Sandun Wijesiri, Udeni Alwis, Kalana Gunasekara, Udeni Chandrasiri and a number of other stars.

Camera is handled by Chandana Arandara and Lakshman Wickrematillake, art direction by Sanath Janaka Herath and Udara Chinthakam make up is Imal Shanaka Peiris and Priyantha S. Wanninayake, ‘Diriya Dhoni’s assistant director is Sampath Nishantha. Edited by Augustin Manatunga, its music director is Luxman Wijesekara and the producer of the teleplay is Prasad Wijesuriya.
