Siriwardena and Saldin the heroes for Royal Institute
Ayana Siriwardena with a top score of 138 not out and A. Saldin who captured six wickets for six runs were the heroes of Royal Institute in their 188 run win against Gateway College, Kandy in their quarter-final under 15 International Schools cricket fixture at Shalika ground on Wednesday.
Batting first, Royal Institute with Siriwardena in cracking form raced to a massive 261 for 5 in 30 overs. Gateway College. Kandy in reply were routed for 73 runs with A. Saldin capturing 6 for 6.
In the other three quarter-finals, Lyceum, Ratnapura beat Gateway, Colombo by one wicket, Lyceum, Nugegoda beat Lyceum, Wattala by 8 wickets and Asian International beat Lyceum, Panadura by one run.
The tournament is being conducted by Lyceum International School, Nugegoda.
