Fire at SPC in Fort
View(s):A fire broke out yesterday morning at the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) in Sir Baron Jayathilake Mawatha, Colombo Fort, destroying files and documents.
The fire broke out around 4.30 a.m. causing severe damage to the SPC office and the garage. However, drugs stored in the basement of the building were not affected, police said.
Fire engines of the Colombo Municipal Council rushed to the scene and doused the fire with the help of the police.
The Government Analyst visited the scene yesterday while police said the Colombo Crime Division had launched an investigation.
