CSR Lanka ties up with CSR Netherlands to build capacity in the private sector

CSR Lanka is partnering MVO Nederland (CSR Netherlands) to provide a unique training opportunity to 30 of Sri Lanka’s leading CSR specialists later this month. MVO Nederland is the largest CSR business network in Europe, and renowned as a knowledge centre for CSR, the local company said in a media release.

The workshop, restricted by invitation to members of CSR Lanka, as well as few select corporate entities involved in long-term CSR will provide exclusive and tailor-made training and knowledge exchange by two global experts. The two-day workshop is scheduled to begin on September 30th, 2014.

“Partnering with one of the world’s biggest and most respected CSR facilitators is a great opportunity for CSR Lanka,” said Chandula Abeywickrema, Chairman CSR Lanka. “This is a chance for us to develop overall strategies that will benefit the country as well as all our member companies to ensure better success rates and greater community involvement.”

The knowledge-exchange workshop will cover a range of topics including, best global practices in CSR, research and analyses from studies by both CSR Lanka and MVO Nederland, strategies and the way forward for CSR Lanka and participating companies. The sessions will be facilitated by Ms. Bernedine Bos, the head of projects department at MVO Nederland and Ms. Monique Boere, the communications manager for international CSR at MVO Nederland.

This visit will coincide with the CSR Lanka Conference to be held the following day. Organized as a forum for member companies and other participants, the conference will feature Wayne Visser, a leading global authority on CSR.

CSR Sri Lanka, formed under the alliance of six partners – Hayleys PLC, Brandix Lanka Ltd, Unilever Sri Lanka, CIC Agri Businesses (Pvt) Ltd, Aitken Spence PLC, Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC, and Hatton National Bank, has over 40 private sector corporate entities.
