A three-member committee has been appointed to look into allegations of financial irregularities in the Rubber Research Institute (RRI).
A senior official of the Institute said one of the allegations that is being looked into is the failure to deposit EPF contributions of the employees to the fund.

The official said another allegation is that the money repaid by employees taken as loans has not been credited to the respective fund.
“There have been several financial irregularities which were reported to us. We are having difficulty in paying salaries of employees in rubber estates. This is the first time in the history that a problem like this occurred,” he said.

He said it appeared that the administration department of the institution is clearly at fault but no action will be taken till the report of the committee is received. The report is due within 30 days.

Meanwhile a Treasury representative to the Board of directors of the RRI has resigned on the grounds that decisions taken by the board are not being been implemented by the institute.
