IDB and SEA in joint effort to boost SMIs

The Industrial Development Board (IDB) and the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Monday to jointly promote and develop small and medium scale industries (SMIs).

IDB Chairman Nawaz Rajabdeen said the two organisations plan to carry out projects on industrial symbiosis with a view to introducing advanced technology and modern machinery and equipment in order to sustain the energy and natural resources of the country and find tailor-made solutions for industry.

SEA Chairman Prasad Galhena said they will identify the mechanisms needed to support SMIs and expressed willingness to develop technologies and equipment which support industries and sustainable energy usage as business strategy.
