Thai media delegation visits Mlesna in SL

A 10-person Thai delegation representing all segments of that country’s media visited Sri Lanka recently. The visit was on the invitation of locally based tea exporter Mlesna, which has entered Thailand by way of a partnership with Swiss company Baurs, which has its own offices and distribution network in several ASEAN countries.

According to the local company, the Ceylon Tea brand is becoming increasingly popular in Thailand following Mlesna’s market entry, a result of the tea company’s “superior” design and packaging appealing to the discerning Thai consumer. While the tea company’s Chief Executive Anselm Perera also stated that “his ambition is not just selling packaged teas but giving consumers undisputed quality teas in beautiful packages”. Further, Mlesna also noted that, following its beginnings in 1983 with less than 10 people, the company has grown and employs approximately 350 people, with over 3,000 products on offer in 50 countries.
