Islamic Women’s Day, was marked with a seminar titled, ‘Social Change in the Contemporary World And Women’, by the Iranian Cultural Centre, in Colombo, recently. Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasooriya graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Jezima Ismail, Minna Thaheer, Chulani Kodikara and Marina Ismail presented scholarly papers. Iran’s Acting Ambassador Ibrahim Khany and Cultural Counsellor Alireza Khoshrou also addressed the ceremony. Islamic Women’s Day is commemorated annually on the birth anniversary of the beloved daughter of prophet Mohammed (PBUH), Hazrath Fathima Zahra.

Here Minna Thaheer, an author, a social worker and lecturer in the University of Colombo is seen delivering her lecture on the, ‘Social Change And the role of Muslim Women in Sri Lanka’.
