Dandeniya Hemachandra de Silva popularly known as DH in the cricketing circle passed away at the age of 81 in Australia.

Having captained his alma mater Mahinda College, Galle DH represented the Preadeniya University, SSC and Nomads in the premier cricket tournaments conducted by the then Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka.

He is the elder of four cricketing brothers namely Premachandra, Gunachandra and Somachandra.

Premachandra (DP) and Somachandra (DS) represented Sri Lanka while DH played for the Board of Control President’s team on several occasions.

He was the Charity Commissioner of the Colombo Municipal Council and later was the Municipal Commissioner of the Kandy Municipality before migrating to Australia. His son Mahinda represented Sri Lanka at Table Tennis.
