Controversial ‘Acid Wessa’ falls again

Playwright Dhananjaya Karunarathne’s ‘Acid Wessa’, one of the most controversial theatrical productions in the recent past will go on the boards on Sunday, March 30 at 3.30 pm and 7.00 pm at the Lionel Wendt theatre, Colombo 07. A unique conception based on the thesis of cruelty against cruelty, destruction against destruction and love against love is rated by the Sri Lanka Censor Board as a production only for an adult audience.

The play stars Kaushalya Fernando, Jagath Manuwarana and Priyantha Sirikumara with music, lighting and make up by Kapila Poogalararachchi, Chandana Aluthge and Wasantha Poornawansha respectively. Stage management is by Kosala Thotawatte, Pramodh Edirisinghe and Sachinthana Dolapihillage while Jude Srimal is the main organizer.
