Rainforest Alliance for Watawala Tea

Watawala Plantations PLC has been given the Rainforest Alliance Certification by the Rainforest Alliance, a Global Network which works to conserve biodiversity. Watawala’s Tea will now carry the mark “RA” on its packaging signifying the commitment to envronmental conservation and protection and uplifting occupational health and safety, the company said.

Waltrim, Dickoya, Kenilworth, Lippakelle and Ouvahkelle estates along with Kenilworth Tea Factory, Dickoya Tea Factory and Waltrim Tea Factory which are owned and managed by Watawala Plantations PLC were awarded the certification by the Sustainable Agriculture Network/Rainforest Alliance Certification INDO CERT. The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and improve livelihoods by promoting and evaluating the implementation of the most globally respected sustainability standards in many fields.

Dr. Dan Seevaratnam, CEO Watawala Plantations PLC said that the company is committed to sustainability projects.
