Sad plight of the GK depositors

View(s):

There was a recent report in a newspaper (not the Sunday Times) about the plight of Golden Key (GK) depositors and about shares in a Trust-namely ‘CESOT’. Ignorantly or otherwise it was reported that 50 per cent of the shares in that Trust is owned by Laith Kotelawela and those shares will go to the GK depositors.

I am a GK depositor and I was so happy reading it but later I did my own research and now I am well aware of the reality. Why is the media writing such irresponsible articles to raise our hopes and for us to eventually to find out that we will not get that money. Poor depositors like us will be dragged down to a further mental depression. First of all Mr. Kotelawela being only a Trustee does not own all those (50 per cent) shares of CESOT. He only owns a mere ’10 subscriber shares’ I found out that those 50 per cent of shares are owned by the employees and that they have been getting dividends for years.

This report has given false hopes to all of us poor depositors.

The learned judges are well aware of how shares of a ‘Trust” is distributed.

Let this letter go on record. Us poor shareholders of GK can only look on helplessly at these unscrupulous people who play with our emotions to feed their own secret personal agenda.

I only hope another sad GK depositor does not take his life when his hopes are dashed. If something sad like that happens, God’s wrath will be on people who write so irresponsibly.
