Hundred each representing the Army, Navy and Air Force, including 32 military sportswomen from each wing, will participate at the International Military Sports Council (Conseil International du Sport Militaire), commonly known as the CISM Day Run which will be held in Colombo today. The 4-kilometre run will be held under the patronage of the heads of three Commanders commencing at 6.00am from Chaitya Road in Colombo.

This year’s run is organised by Sri Lanka Navy for the second occasion with the support of its affiliated sports bodies and the Defence Services Sports Board. Besides the run, the CISM annually organises over 20 Military World Championships. CISM with its motto, ‘Friendship through Sport’ as one of the world’s largest multidisciplinary organisations dedicated to promote world peace by uniting armed forces through sports, organizes diverse sporting events for the armed forces of its 133 member countries.

The CISM Day Run is one such event that brings personals of the Amry, Navy and Air Force of Sri Lanka in a unison cause. The race will run down Chaitya Road through Galle Face Centre Road and will take a turn opposite the Galle Face Court and direct back to where it began through the Galle Face Drive.
