Police pulled out all the weapons in their arsenal then reached a little deeper and extracted an extra ounce of fortitude to edge past a determined Hambantota Sharks 22 (3 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) – 21 (2 tries, 1 conversion, 3 penalties), in a pulsating Dialog Division ‘A’ Inter-Club Plate fixture at Police Park yesterday.

At halftime, Police led 17-6 before the Sharks made a recovery, which, although impressive, was ultimately insufficient. In another match in the Plate segment, Air Force came back after trailing 7-17 to CH& FC at halftime to surge to a 36 (5 tries, 4 conversions, 1 penalty) -20 (2 tries, 2 conversions, 2 penalties).

At Welisara, Navy beat the Upcountry Lions 33 (5 tries, 4 conversions) – 8 (1 try, 1 penalty) in their Cup clash. The score at halftime was 14-8 in favour of Navy. – DS
