People’s Bank ‘Isuru Udana’ account holders receive innovative educational DVD
View(s):The People’s Bank recently introduced an exciting new concept – an interactive educational DVD that is designed to support the primary education of all Isuru Udana account holders; young children in their formative years.
This educational DVD titled ‘Isuru Udana Paadam Sellam’ (a concept which denotes ‘learn while playing’) has been designed in keeping with modern learning concepts includes an array of novel and interactive exercises that can aid young children in their education and personal development, the bank said.
A colourful ceremony to mark the launch of this special educational DVD was held recently at the auditorium of the People’s Bank Training Centre under the auspices of N. Vasantha Kumar, CEO/GM of People’s Bank with the participation of Deepal Abeysekara, Head of Marketing and Public Affairs; Boniface Silva, DGM Operations; Ms. Renuka Jayasinghe, DGM, Retail Banking; Chandrasiri Fernando, AGM, Marketing and Product Development, staff members, parents and children.
Dr. Chandana Aluthge, Senior Lecturer of the University of Colombo and Consultant on Education and use of Children’s Drama, who delivered the special guest lecture on this occasion, stressed the importance of focusing attention on young children’s feelings and behavioural patterns when attempting to impart knowledge to them. Quoting examples from developed nations, the professor stated that in most countries primary education takes cognizance of interactive and practical methods, and reiterated the importance of embracing such modern practices when structuring primary education in Sri Lanka. He was impressed with the innovative educational CD that was launched on this day which has been developed on a similar interactive software platform and praised the efforts of everyone who contributed towards this initiative, the bank statement said.
All new Isuru Udana account holders and existing account holders who deposit Rs. 2,500 in their accounts are eligible to receive this useful educational software Dvd comprising of Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.
