‘Who Cares About Nature?’ a festival for learning and recreation organised by Dilmah Conservation will take place on January 24 and 25 at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), 24 Horton Place, Colombo 7.

Feeding time at the the Elephant Transit Home in Udawalawe

A series of educational and interactive activities centred on nature and the environment will take place as a part of this event, providing children and adults the opportunity to learn more about conservation. Highlights include photography training sessions, cultural demonstrations such as crafting bows and arrows, snake charming and fortunetelling led by representatives of the Veddah and Ahikuntika communities, storytelling, arts and crafts, and a unique puppet show on dugong conservation.

‘Who Cares about Nature?’ will also feature special children’s activities highlighting nature appreciation and environmental responsibility. 120 students and 40 teachers from the Northern Province representing the Nature Appreciation Clubs formed as a part of Dilmah Conservation’s Reconcilliation through the Power of Nature initiative will also be hosted at this event.

An interactive audiovisual exhibition of Dilmah Conservation’s social and environmental projects featuring innovative home gardening models, a butterfly garden, marine habitat and shipwreck conservation, dugong and elephant conservation, and the discovery of new amphibian species will be open to the public from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 25.
