The renowned folk dance and music troupe created by the late music maestro Lionel Ranwala will be performing at the Kularatne Hall at Ananda College on November 27. The show, Ran Salakuna, will comprise traditional Sri Lankan folk dances, songs and music.

The show will include performances of the ever popular favourites such as ‘gama awulannan, kamalee, sand savee ma’.
Ran Salakuna is choreographed and directed by Sahan Ranwala who has continued the music and tradition that his father introduced to the local stage.

Proceeds from Ran Salakuna will go to the Cancer Care Association (CCA) of Sri Lanka. The CCA is one of the main home-based palliative care organisations that care for cancer patients through a wide network of volunteers and member donations in Sri Lanka.

The CCA hospice in Anuradhapura accommodates 20 cancer patients and the CCA cares for over 140 patients in their homes. The proceeds from the Ran Salakuna show will contribute to the second phase of the hospice development to increase the CCA hospice bed capacity to 40.

Ran Salakuna will commence at 6.30 pm at the Kularatne Hall, Ananda College, Colombo 10 on November 27. Tickets are available at www.wow.lk, Casa Serena 122, Havelock Road, Colombo 5, Sri Lanka. For more details contact 0773409787, 0773557123 and www.cancercaresl.com
