Sri Lankan TT veterans excel in Australian Masters at Geelong

Three Sri Lankan veteran table tennis players, Dr. Nimal Lucas, Mohamed Laffeer and Pushpa Colombathanthri won a tally of 10 medals at the 14th Australian Masters Games held in Geelong, Australia on 11th and 12th October 2013.

In the 65-74 year old team event, Dr. Nimal Lucas (captain), Mohamed Laffeer and Dr. Buddy Reid (Australian) each won a gold medal. In the 35-49 year old team event, Pushpa Colombathanthri and 3 Australian players won a silver medal each.

Mohamed Laffeer won a gold medal in the Over-60 men’s singles event whilst Dr. Lucas and Pushpa Colombathanthri each won a silver medal in the Over-70 men’s singles event and the Over-40 women’s singles event.

In the 50-64 men’s doubles event Dr Nimal Lucas and Mohamed Laffeer won a gold medal each whilst in the 35-49 women’s doubles event Pushpa Colombathanthri and an Australian player each won a silver medal.

In the 50-64 mixed doubles event Mohamed Laffeer and an Australian player each won a bronze medal.
