The Ravi Punchihewa Cricket Academy of Matale won the Under-17 Twenty20 Cricket Series against the touring Dhangadh Cricket Academy of Nepal which was held between October 22 and 28 in Matale. The Ravi Punchihewa CA won the series by 6 games to 3 where all matches were played at the Bernard Aluvihare Stadium in Matale.

From the tally of nine matches the Ravi Punchihewa CA two each of the games were won by its Golds and Blues while the Greens and Reds recorded a win each. Nevertheless the RPCA Golds were declared the overall champions of the series, considering their performances from the competition. The Golds’ Ashker Kamerdeen was adjudged the player of the tournament while its skipper Gihan Herath was named the best fielder. Pradeep Lakmal of the Golds won the best bowler’s award while Mohamed Rifai became the best batsman. Sobouth Ayuth of Dhangadhi CA was adjudged the up and coming youngster of the series.

Mohamed Nuferdeen – member of the Parent’s Committee of RPCA, Saman Senanayake – the District Coach for Sri Lanka Cricket, Dhangadhi CA officials Subash Bashi, Deepak Kumar and Mahesh Kumar and Ravi Punchihewa, the Head of RPCA distributed the awards.
