Run For Their Lives (RFTL), a charity run organsed by the Rotaract Club of Colombo Uptown will be held on December 8 from 7am onward starting at Independence Square.

The event-now in its fourth successful year- is held in order to raise funds towards the purchase of medicine for the National Cancer Institute in Maharagama and bring about awareness of the plight of cancer patients in Sri Lanka. A tight budget and free treatment often puts the Cancer Hospital in dire need of essential medicine, and the Rotaract Club of Colombo Uptown has taken it up as their mission to annually donate as much medicine as possible with help from local businesses and the general public to ensure these shortages are kept to a minimum.

Last year’s RFTL attracted 1700 participants, raising over Rs. 1.3 million for the cause. This year they hope to meet a fundraising target of Rs. 2 million.

You can register for the event or donate online at www.rftl.lk
