The current Synchronized Swimming captain of Visakha Vidyalaya, 16-year-old Aneka Abeywickrema won the silver medal at the 9th Hong Kong Synchronized swimming Championship in her solo event, in the 16-18 years age group held at the Kowloon Park in Hong Kong from September 6 to 8. This was the first occasion Aneka was given the opportunity to participate at an international event where she proved her might in the international arena bringing glory to Sri Lanka. Hong Kong won the Gold medal and Singapore the Bronze. Aneka started her Synchronized swimming career at the age of nine.  She has completed all 10 levels and has won the Gold medal at national level many times for her solos, duets and team events.
