Railway passengers at the Pettah and Nugegoda train stations were taken by surprise when out of nowhere a girl in a yellow and green saree and a guy with a backpack danced, and performed scenes from the latest Bollywood blockbuster ‘Chennai Express’.

Ceylon Theatres have resorted to rather creative means in promoting this long anticipated release. The street performances took place in early August and as the couple danced on benches, swung around pillars and wove their way through obstacles such as stray dogs, busy passengers lessened their pace and stopped to watch.

This film directed by Rohit Shetty, produced by Gauri Khan and starring Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, was released in the UK on August 8 and had its worldwide release on the 9th. The star studded cast includes Manorama and Priyamani.
CeylonTheatres celebrate 85 years in the entertainment industry and have gone to great lengths to provide a world class theatre experience in screening the film. The entrance of the Majestic City Cineplex is in the outline of a train and constant boarding calls to board the “Chennai Express” provide for an authentic experience in keeping with the theme of the film. A special media preview was held last week.
