St. Joseph’s Convent, Nugegoda trounced St. Lawrence’s Convnet by a massive 61 points to 33 and emerge under 19 champions of the Colombo South Zone basketball tournament that was concluded at Wellawatte recently. At half time the winners led by 29 points to 21.
For St. Joseph’s Imesha Thatsarani 21 points and Anne Stephnie 17 were in excellent form, while Natasha Perera 18 points and Melanie Dassanayake six swelled the St. Lawrence’s score.

Ann Stephnie and Imesha Thatsarani of St. Joseph’s were adjudged the best offensive and most valuable players respectively of the tournament, while Natasha Perera of St. Lawrence’s won the award for the best defensive player. (BM)

Presbyterian settle for consolation

Presbyterian Girls School, Dehiwela settled for the under 19 Colombo South Zona consolation basketball championship when they defeated Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda by 35 points to 12 at St. Lawrence’s recently. At the short whistle Presbyterian led by 11 points to 2.
While Evandika Madushani top scored for the winners with 13 points, Rashni Shevandi was the highest scorer for Dharmasoka with five points. (BM)
