Come, look at these women

View(s):

The Lionel Wendt will be the venue for a unique photographic exhibition which brings together the work of some 45 amateur and professional photographers who seek to present women in a totally different light. ‘Women – Out of The Frame’ will be held from July 5 to 10 at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery, and is spearheaded by photographer Menika van der Poorten in conjunction with the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka.

These photographers’ perspectives will change the way we see women. The photographs selected capture a moment or moments revealing the complexity of women’s lives – whether it is women from different walks of life in the same frame, women living in a war and conflict affected environments or elders going about their daily routine.

An exhibition catalogue will be available and the exhibition website (www.outofthrframe.lk) will be launched to coincide with the opening of the exhibition. The exhibition and workshops are supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy, the National Peace Council, and the Goethe Institute.

There will also be photography workshops on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 on learning to master your digital workflow conducted by photographer and video film maker, lead trainer for Canon Metropolitan Suda Shanmugaraja. ‘Shooting RAW’ will be on July 6 from 1- 5 p.m and ‘Digital Workflow management for Digital Photographers’ will be on July 7 from 9.30 a.m.- 5 p.m.
The workshops are free but booking and registration is essential as places are limited.

Contact Jane Conrad on 0773797114 or send an email to jane.conrad@yahoo.co.uk to register for the workshops.
The workshop is primarily in English, but there is also use of Sinhala and Tamil). For more information on this project and exhibition email outoftheframe.sl@gmail.com or visit Face Book: http://www.facebook.com/outoftheframesrilankaandwww.outoftheframe.lk (launching on the 4/7/13)
