Stop lighting crackers on festival days

View(s):

Lighting crackers is an outmoded practice that is blindly followed by Sri Lankans on festival days and happy occasions. But now there’s no need for it as multimedia does it perfectly without any hazards.

I appeal to the intelligent readers to stop burning hard-earned money and spend it on a worthy cause like providing books, shoes, uniforms or dry rations to needy children or those in orphanages. We can start this from the National New Year festival this year.
In doing so, you will be not only putting your money to good use but also reducing environment pollution and accidents.
So, this year, let us start a new tradition, which is philanthropic and meritorious.
