View(s):

A full day seminar cum workshop was conducted for all academic staff of the British College of Applied Studies (BCAS Campus) at Hotel Renuka on 9th March 2013 with a view to improving the quality standard to meet the current employment challenges for more than 85 of staff from all the BCAS campuses (Colombo, Dehiwela, Kandy, Batticaloa, Kurunagala and Jaffna) comprising seven schools (Computing, Building Studies,   Engineering,   Management,   Legal Studies, Health Science and English Language Teaching Unit) who participated in the twin programme conducted by Mr Mafeel, the Academic Director.  It revolved around quality of academic delivery, understanding the needs and merging talents.

Each school came out with innovative and practical solutions for discussion and they were collectively examined for pros and cons. Some of the ideas put forward and accommodated are how the delivery of the courses improved, what and what activities could be accommodated in addition to the curriculum to make the learning of modules easier, how the students can face the challenges with confidence and what sort of hands-on practical training could be given to the students.
