NCC began their campaign on a winning note when they outclassed the hapless Kurunegala YCC side by an innings and 255 runs with a day to spare in their Premier league cricket encounter concluded at the NCC grounds yesterday.

The writing was on the wall was there for KYCC when they were bundled out for a meager 60 runs on the opening day as they succumbed to left arm spinner Sohan Boralessa who ended with an impressive return of 5 for 13 with the inning lasting just 30 overs.On Day one the NCC batsmen made merry with openers Niroshan Dickwella and skipper Upul Tharanga putting on a solid stand of 183.

The second day saw Angelo Perera and Kosala Kulasekera sending the KYCC bowlers on a leather hunt. Angelo made an 88 ball knock of 120 which included 13 boundaries and half a dozen sixes while Kosala made a 69 ball 103 with 11 boundaries and three sixes.Army too made short work of Air Force whom they crushed by an innings and 16 runs in the match played at Panagoda with the match ending just after the tea break.

The right arm spin combination of Seekkuge Prasanna and Ajantha Mendis was too hot for the Airmen to handle. In the first inning of the Airmen a six wicket haul by Seekkuge Prasanna saw the crashing to a score of just 130.

Skipper Dilhara Lokuhettige led from the front with a fine knock of 151 as along with veteran Indika de Saram who also made a ton helping Moors SC to come out on top against Saracens SC at the end of the second days play at Braybrooke Place.

Later left arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara ran through the Saracens SC batting to restrict the visitors to a score of 241. Saracens SC made to follow with a deficit of 306 runs was in deep trouble with the score on 34 for 4 needing a further 272 runs to avoid an innings defeat when play begins at 10.00 a.m. today.

Tharindu Kasuhal who made his First Class debut for NCC in action

The match between Colts and Ragama CC played at Colts ground was evenly poised when play ended on day two with Ragama CC set a target 261 runs were 56 for 4.

Badureliya CC who ended day one on 358 for 6 went onto make a score of 407 which came on the back of half tons by Pabasara Waduge, Jason Perera and Alankara Asanka against Galle who ended the day on 163 for 8 in the match played at Galle.

Bloomfield have already obtained a first inning lead over BRC when play ended on the second day in the match played at Reid Avenue.
Tamil Union after making a score of 353 bundled out Sri Lanka Ports Authority for a low score of 136 with Shaminda Eranga doing the damage. SLPA batting the second made a bold score of 133 for 1 at the end of the second days play at P. Sara Stadium.At the SSC ground tons by Kaushal Silva and Thilan Samaraweera saw SSC make a score of 450 for 9 in reply to Chilaw Marians 142.

CCC recovered from a hopeless position of 94 for 5 to end their innings making 257 in reply to Navy’s 198 to take a first inning lead in the match played at Welisara.
