Holy Family Convent, Wennapuwa were crowned under 17 All Island ‘B’ division girls basketball champions when they defeated Ave Maria Convent, Negombo by 50 points to 29 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike court on Monday. At half time Holy Family Convent led by 21 points to 15.

Nirma Sasanthi was in terrific form for Holy Family with 40 points while Supipi Maleesha added four points. For Ave Maria Convent, Andrea Fonseka was the best shooter with 15 points.

Supipi Maleesha and NIrma Sasanthi both of Holy Family Convent were adjudge the best defensive and most valuable player respectively, while Andrea Fonseka was the best offensive player.

St. Bridget’s Convent defeated Prebyeterian Girls School, Dehiwela by 38 points to 31 to win the consolation final of the All Island under 17 girls ‘B’ division basketball tournament at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike court on Monday.
Swaranga Fernando with 13 points, Dishni Gunawardena nine and Danica Lopez eight were on target for St. Bridget’s. For Presbyterian GS the best shooters were Sajini Pavithra with nine points, Hansima Apumali seven and S.G. Nipuni Navodya six.
