Pathirage Kamala Shriyani,  a 36-year-old mother of two small boys and nurse at Kalutara General Hospital has been diagnosed with Leukemia and needs an urgent bone marrow transplant.

Under the care of Consultant in Radiation and Medical Oncology, Maharagama Cancer Hospital, Dr. Dehan Gunasekara, she will have to seek a bone marrow transplant at the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, India, as this procedure is not available in Sri Lanka.

As her husband, L.W. Somasiri, who is a training instructor at the Kalutara Police Training School, is struggling to keep the family going and is unable to collect Rs. 3 million (Indian Rs. 1.2 million) to take her for this life-saving procedure, he is appealing to generous donors to lend a helping hand.

Donations may be sent to Account No. 039-2-001-6-3032439 at the Kalutara People’s Bank branch in the names of P.K. Shriyani and L.W. Somasiri. The family may be contacted on Phone: 0714334975 or e-mail: kamalasriyani@yahoo.com.
