Autobiography of a pair of shoes

One day when I was sitting on my nice glass shelf at a cobbler’s shop, a little girl walked in and wanted to buy me. She was looking for a pair of ballerina shoes that were a beautiful pink with shining silver tie-laces. I fitted her feet well and the little girl thought I was the perfect pair of shoes for her.

She paid for me and I went home with her. She wore me to her ballet class everyday. I kept her feet warm and cozy.

After a few months I wore out and now I sit in her cupboard with all her old shoes. But I am happy because she used me well and I made her happy when she danced in me.

The most beautiful place in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is famous for its three “S’s” the Sea, Sun and Sand. They all shower beauty onto our pearl island and attract tourists from various regions. There is one unique place where you can enjoy all three in abundance. That is Trincomalee.

Trincomalee is one of the most visited places in Sri Lanka. The shimmering sea, you can see the waves racing as though in competition to touch the soft seashore which gives the onlookers a spellbinding sight.
Although the climate here is hot and humid, the breeze which blows over the area makes you feel invited.

The most striking that I have experienced in Trincomalee is the first rays of sunshine announcing the break of day. Yet another thriller is the herds of deer on either side of the road. Their innocent looks tell us of the wonders of nature. The sacred Koneshwaram kovil located on a very spectacular rock and built by the Cholas’ adds more pride to Trinco.

I visit here with my cousins for the holidays every day.

My favourite movie

My favourite movie is Peter Pan. It is so interesting. The first time I saw the Peter Pan movie I liked Wendy. Wendy is the girl who was the prettiest.

There are different characters. It is so funny. The funniest men are Mr. Smee and Captain Hook. I love that movie.

The day Malla touched a snake

When Uncle Rasa and Aunty Aruna visited Sri Lanka, we took them to Pasikudah. They liked the beach, new roads and how our country has developed. We spent the night at Giritale.

The next morning we went to the National Wildlife Training Centre at Giritale. An uncle there took us to show the snakes. He told us about how they wait in the jungle to catch these reptiles and what they give them to eat. We saw three of them in three different boxes. He gave two reptiles into my Malla’s hands.

My hobbies

A hobby is what someone does during his free time. My hobbies are reading books and collecting stamps. I have over forty books. I like the story of Robin Hood. Reading is a good hobby. My mother buys lots of books. I keep my books carefully. A good reader can be a good writer.

My other hobby is collecting stamps. I have 1256 stamps. I have arranged the stamps in an album. By studying the issue of different stamps we can improve our general knowledge. I have stamps of animals, birds, vehicles, famous persons and many more. My uncle and aunt are living abroad and they send me foreign stamps. I exchange stamps with my friends. The two hobbies keep me occupied.
