There was a special guest at former world renowned cricketer Romesh Kaluwitharana’s holiday retreat at the heart of Uda Walawe’s wilderness. It was none other than, the first citizen of the country, President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The President who came to Udawalawe 0n an official visit made an appearance at this and comfortable small hotel. The President made the visit with Kalu’s opening partner in the 1996 cricket World Cup winning series, Sanath Jayasruiya.

“I came to know that the President had come to a function in Udawalawe and he humbly accepted my invitation to visit my hotel,” Kalu said.

Set amidst five acres of dry zone wilderness and offering much-needed accommodation to visitors to Uda Walawe National Park ‘Kalu’s Hideaway’ is located just 15 minutes away from the gates of the Uda Walawe National Park.

The tastefully designed eco-friendly hotel is a tempting alternative to the more traditional Centauria Hotel and is a comfortable resting point between Colombo and the South Coast or Arugam Bay; as well as from the Southern Highlands to the South coast.
