“I feel very happy and honoured to win this tournament. It was a special win because it was held here for the first time,” an elated Mithum stated following his victory. He added that the victory also served as confirmation that he remained firmly in line with his future career aspirations, which involve elevating both his Indian Golf Tour and Asian Tour rankings.

“Even though my schedule is busy and until December I will be playing a lot of tournaments, I feel that I am still able to put in enough training and keep on improving,” he says.He says that he is aided in this task through the support and understanding of his employer, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, in particular Priyath Bandu Wickrama and Captain Nihal Keppetipola, and those at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Mithun staved off strong challenges from a long line-up of golfing aces, which included Abhijith Chadha, Shamim Khan, Vinod Kumar and Aruna Rohana with a scintillating four under par final round performance to secure his PGTI title. He finished off proceedings with a final score of 13 under par.
