An unbroken 118 run partnership for the 8th wicket between Trishan Thanuja (74 not out) and Pathum Madusanka (63 not out) helped St. Joseph’s defeat Trinity in an Under-17 Division one, 2nd round game played at Asgiriya.  With this win the Darley Road lads go into the pre-quarter finals scheduled to be played this week.

Trinity taking first lease of the wicket were struggling at 118 for 9 before N. Ekanayake (49 not out) and P. Abeykoon (32 not out) came together to put on  a face-saving  68 runs stand for the last wicket.  Josephian right arm off spinner Hashendra Perera was the pick of the bowlers claiming 4 for 27.

The visitors chasing the modest target slumped to 70 for 7 wickets before Thanuja and Madusanka stringed an unbroken 118 run stand that steered the Josephians home.  Trinity 186 for 9 in 50 overs (M. Munaweera 37, Hashendra Perera 4 for 27,)
