NDB ‘G’ Div. Champs but Niroshan the hero

NDB Bank posted a close 12 run win over Inter Pharme to emerge champions of the MCA ‘G’ Division cricket tournament at the MCA ground recently. However, it was S. Niroshan of Inter Pharme who was the real hero of the day. Batting first, NDB Bank ran up 183 before they were dismissed in the final over of their innings with R. Rupasinghe top scoring with 43 runs. While Kawinda Jayasuriya was the pick of the Inter Pharme bowler’s with five for 34.
Inter Pharme in reply made a spirited reply but fell short of their target by just 13 runs despite a brilliant knock of 93 runs by Niroshan which was made off just 69 deliveries and included 11 hits to the ropes and one six. Once he was run out, the writing was on the wall for Inter Pharme.
Based on performances in the league round, Suresh Niroshan of Inter Pharme was adjudged the best batsman. Niranjan Dabare of Deutsche Bank won the best bowlers award.
