The growing mobile phone demand is expected to exceed Sri Lanka’s current population with over 19 million in use already, a UAE-based company Serendib Ventures said on Wednesday during a media briefing. As part of its marketing drive towards popularizing the Zigo brand in Colombo, the company intends on launching three types of bar phones: touch phones, dual SIM Android Smart phone and the basic phone, Serendib Ventures FZC ICT and Mobile Technologies CEO Thusha Weerasoriya said.

The company is in partnership with CellCity Lanka Private Ltd that would market these products and provide the necessary service facility. Serendib ventured into Sri Lanka with hopes of creating greater access to the South Asian region and the African continent, Mr. Weerasoriya said. Competitively priced, this new range of phones would boast features comparable with or even better than similar offerings from other international brands, it notes. Targeting youth, Zigo envisages taking on handsets, tableting PCs,applications, and green energy solutions.

Marketing the phones as possessing superior technology, user friendliness, stylish appearance and several ultra modern features, including easy access to email and surfing the net through a choice of browsers, as well as social utilities such as Facebook, Twitter, etc that are sure to make a significant impact on the lifestyle and professional efficiency of its users.
