Vavuniya Tamil M.M.V, Vavuniya emerge winners

All Island Interschool Chemistry Quiz Contest is one of the most popular programmes, which the Institute of Chemistry has been conducting and fully sponsoring since 1985 with the approval of Ministry of Education for popularizing Chemistry among school children. The contest comprises a preliminary written paper from which the contestants for quarterfinals will be selected. The contest is conducted in all three languages, Sinhala, English and Tamil. This year there will be more than thousand school children representing 173 schools from all parts of the country were enthusiastically participated in this quiz contest.

The final round of the All Island Interschool chemistry quiz was held at the Institute of Chemistry Head quarters, Adamantane house, Rajagiriya, recently. Fifteen schools were selected from the written exam for the oral contest.

Mr. N M S Hettigedara Challenge Shield was won by V/Vavuniya Tamil M.M.V, Vavuniya. The first runner up was Nalanda College, Colombo and they will be awarded the Link Natural Products Ltd Challenge Shield.

The Challenge trophy and certificates will be distributed during the grand occasion on June 20th at the Annual Sessions of the Institute f Chemistry Ceylon at Waters Edge, Battaramulla.
