Kuda Kusum Balika Maha Vidyalaya,Bandarawela is indeed proud to be one of the top school which produced highest number of passes at grade 5 scholarship examination among the Bandarawela Educational Zone. This year, 42 students of this school got through the examination. In respect of this the primary sectional vice Principal Mrs. K.K.D.Nirmala Kanthi along with their administrators, organized the annual award ceremony on 18th of November, 2011 at their school premises.
The occasion was graced by chief guest Badulla District Parliament Member, Hon.Dr. Rohana Pushpakumara. Assistant Director of Education- Bandarawela Zone Mr.J.M.Jayasundara, Assistant Director of Education- Bandarawela Zone, Mrs.Vishaka Rajapaksha, Primary Sectional Assistant Directress-Bandarawela Zone Mrs. Hema Kumarihami, Assistant Director of education (planning) Mr.M.B.Weerasinghe, The Principal of Bandarawela Kuda Kusum Balika Maha Vidyalaya Mrs. A.C.Padminee and a retired teacher of Primary section Mrs.Malani Amarasinghe were invited as special guests.
120 students were awarded with medals and certificates. The medals have been awarded to 42 students who got through the examination while the certificates were awarded to 78 students who scored over 70 marks.
W.H.Sachini Devindi who obtained the placed 6th in the district and 2nd in Bandarawela Zone, explained her sisters how she prepared for the exam.
The Principal of B.M.M.V. stated “The success of these children and the appreciation from us will strengthen the minds of the next batch of student from grade three and four’s to get a better success than this. That is the main reason which made us to organize this event annually.”
The chief guest noted that he was so happy to see the talents of these blooming buds. The event was brightened by colourful dances displayed by college junior and senior dancing troops who won the All Island places in the recent years. Sujitha Miranda
