Colombo stocks ride high on peace sentiments

Most Colombo stocks hit high prices on Friday with the indices up on high turnover with stock analysts saying that ‘peace sentiments’ in LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran’s annual speech drove many retailers to go on a buying spree.

“There was some active buying in almost all shares,” a stock analyst said. The All Share Index gained 14.08 points to 1,639.94 while the Milanka increased by 11.78 points to 1,842.53 at stock market close. The turnover was at Rs 641 million..
