Colombo stocks rise on positive global market trends

Colombo stocks started Tuesday morning on a slightly active note, with brokers saying that the positive trends in the global markets are flowing in, but that the trend will not last.

“The crisis-hit Citibank (US) has got a bailout. This positivism has caught the western and the eastern (stock) markets which were also up today morning. These sentiments are flowing in here as well,” a stock analyst said.

Nikitha Tissera, Research Analyst Sampath Securities said that today the market will somewhat stabilise in the morning but it will not be sustained. The All Share Index climbed 4.17 points to 1,659.15 while the Milanka advanced by 9.62 points to 1,858.33 points during early trades. The turnover was at Rs 24 million. .
