Air force strikes in Muhamalai

Air force continued air strikes on LTTE targets in Muhamalai yesterday, the air force said.

Air force fighter jets and Mi 24 helicopters bombed rebel targets for nearly three hours on Sunday in the Muhamalai area.

There was no immediate information on the damages caused in the attacks.

Meanwhile the LTTE claimed that the Army’s Deep Penetration Unit (DPU) attackers Saturday noon triggered two Claymore mines targeting the motorbike of a vegetable trader, killing him on the spot at Kollar Puliyankulam in Vanni.

The victim, a father of seven children was identified as 47-year-old Thillainathan Aroakkiyanathan .
