2008-11-15 13:00:42

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has urged the LTTE to lay down arms and hold talks with the government.

"Our heroic forces were able to capture the A32 road and the Pooneryn area this morning. This was the first time since Elam War II a land route to Jaffna was cleared. We would like to tell Prabhakaran to lay down all arms in the possession of the LTTE and to come for talks with us. The greatest service he can do to the civilians in his area is to lay down arms and surrender. We wish all the best to the brave forces," he said..
