The JVP today demanded that the Government reveal to the country the full details of the promises made by the President’s special envoy Basil Rajapaksa during his recent visit to India.

"Otherthan what was made public by a joint statement at the end of the visit, there are some secret pledges the Government has made to India which are yet unknown," JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe said.

He said the JVP understands that the Government has promised to implement the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and allow the Indians to distribute the 800 metric tons of food they have pledged for the people of the north. There has also been a lull in the military operations since the visit, he said.

"It is clear the Government has bowed down to pressure form South India as well as the Indian central Government,” he said.
