An employee at the Kelanitissa power station was killed in last night's LTTE air raid, hospital officials said.

They said that the employee was pronounced dead on admission, but did not have any visible external injuries.

Director of Accident Service, Dr. Anil Jaysinghe told Timesonline that he may have died after suffering from shock, but said a postmortem was due to be held later to reveal the cause of the death.

Meawhile CEB officials were assessing the damages, but the military has said the LTTE missed its target and instead damaged one administrative building in the complex which caught fire instantly.

"Fire brigade rushed to the scene and doused the fire within minutes. Entire power plant remains intact and functions as usual, although the power supply was disconnected as a precautionary measure during the time of the abortive aerial attack", the Defence ministry said..
