Health Minister, Nimal Siripala de Silva replying to a question raised by JVP MP Ranaweera Pathirana said that unless medical staff learns to resolve conflicts of ideas, there is no way that parliamentarians can find a solution to the continuous issues in hospitals.

He said that the health ministry secretary is coordinating discussions in order to resolve the present Anuradhapura hospital strike issue, where the GMOA officers and the hospital administration have locked horns resulting in a strike.

“There is no administrative issue in the hospital. We have provided a large number of doctors, the best director, allocated a huge sum and provided all equipment. But the medical staff are threatening to go on strike if we considered the doctors’ requests and the doctors are threatening to strike if we listen to the other medical staff”, he said.
