2008-10-23 12:12:42

Speaker, W. J. M. Lockubandara requested the Government to hold an immediate inquiry on why the prime minister, speaker, leader of the opposition, former presidents and MPs have not been included as VVIPs under the circular in regard to provide security which has been endorsed by the former IGP Victor Perera.

The speaker told the Leader of the House, Nimal Siripala de Silva to look into it immediately as it affects the security of the MPs.

Opposition MPs protested that apart from the president and minister, even governors and chief ministers too are considered as VVIPs.
