However, rains have delayed the removal of mines buried by the LTTE.

During mop up work in the Akkarayankulam area troops had come across of decomposed dead bodies of two LTTE cadres.

Meanwhile, troops in the Andankulam and Welioya areas directed an assault on the LTTE Forward Defence line on Monday and the LTTE directed counter-fire at the troops. Troops collected 310 anti personnel mines from the same area.

Troops in Karaveddi west, Jaffna prevented a group of LTTE cadres infiltrating into an army controlled area. Troops directed fire on them and later collected one T-56 weapon, one magazine, eleven ammunition rounds and one night vision device from the location.
