Colombo stocks go up on selective buying
2008-10-15 15:48:28

Some selective buying was seen in a few counters such as Dialog, JKH, Caltex and Maskeliya Plantations (MP) which pushed Wednesday’s Colombo stock market up, but it was on thin volumes, stock market analysts said.

“Dialog had some foreign interest, but other shares such as JKH, Caltex and MP had buying interest because they had come down to attractive pricing,” Vajira Premawardhana, Executive Director, Lanka Orix Securities said. He said there was no sustained buying in the market adding that tomorrow the same trend will be shown.

Dialog closed 50 cents up at Rs 8, JKH was 50 cents down to close at Rs 75.50, Caltex was Rs 3 up to Rs 106 and MP was Rs 2 up to Rs 28 at stock market close. The All Share Index increased by 43.93 points to 2,027.51 while the Milanka increased to 65.66 points to 2260.25 at stock market close and the turnover was Rs.138 million.
