Sumathi Awards to felicitate tele talents

One of the leading tele award festivals, Sumathi Tele Award has released its nominations to select the winners at a ceremony scheduled to be held at the BMICH on June 14. For the major awards, W. Jayasiri(Neganahira Weralin Esena) , Mahendra Perera (Rala Bindena Thena)and Roger Seneviratne (Wanabime Sirakaru) has been nominated for the Best Actor while Duleeka Marapana (Sudheera), Chandani Seneviratne (Rala Bindena Thena) Gayana Sudarshani (Sudu Hamine) were nominated for the Best Actress and teledramas 'Sandagala Thenna', 'Rala Bindena Thena' and 'Kammitta' have been nominated for the Best Teledrama of 2008.

For the successful 14th year, Sumathi Group has organized this major event to felicitate the talents in the teledrama field. The other nominations are Best Tele Drama (single episode)-Theggen Thegga, Unusuma and Raththaran. Best Tele Drama Director- Saman Kumara Liyanage (Sandagalathenna), Senesh Bandara Dissanayake (Rala Bindena Thena) and Sudath Rohana (Uthuwankande Saradiel)

Best supporting actor- G.R. Perera (Kammitta), Daya Alwis (Sandagalathenna) and Wishvajith Gunasekara (Rala Bindena Thena)
Best supporting actress- Nilmini Buwaneka (Sudheera), Nilanthi Wijesinghe (Wanabime Sirakaru) and Maureen Charuni (Sandagalathenna)

Best Up and Coming actor- Pradeep Dharmadasa (Sandagalathenna), Saranga Dissasekara (Pipi Piyum) and Chandika Nanayakkara (Suba Sihina Ahawarai).

Best up and coming actress- Samanalee Fonseka (Rala Bindena Thena), Himali Siriwardana (Sandagalathenna) and Piyumi Botheju (Rasthiyadukaraya). Best music director-Kapila Pugalaarachchi (Neganahira Weralin Esena), Nadeeka Guruge (Rasthiyadukarayo) and Navaratne Gamage (Sandagalathenna)

Best song- Irabatu Tharuwe Eliyen (Sandagalathenna) - Amarasiri Peiris/ Shashika Nisansala, Gangulel Diye (Sasara Sevaneli) - Rashmi Sangeetha Sanda Kumak Karannado (Bala Binduma) Deepika Priyadarshani.

Until last week among the popular award nominations Roshan Ranawana led, while Suraj Mapa and Roshan Pilapitiya are behind him for the Popular Actor Award and Manjula Kumari tops the most popular actress list while Oshadie Hewamadduma and Nadeeka Chandrasekara follow her. Sandagala Thenna, Batti and Jeewithhaya Lassanai are on the top line up for the Popular Teledrama award.
