Chennai to meet Rajasthan in the IPL final today

Chennai Super Kings will meet the Rajasthan Royal in the Indian Premiere League final at Mumbai today in a clash what could be termed as the bid to the Indian cricketing throne.

Parthiv Patel

If on Friday Australian allrounder Shane Watson dismembered the Delhi Daredevils almost single handedly, it was more a composite team effort by the Super Kings that saw the down fall of the King’s Xl Punjab. After the South African fast bowler Makhaya Ntini.

Was responsible for the wickets of expensive Punjab openers Shaun Marsh and James Hopes the rest of the bowlers did their bit by the side to see the strong batting line up slide to 112 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

When it came to the turn of the Super Kings to occupy the crease, twenty-three-year-old Parthiv Patel made his presence felt as an opener by scoring a polished half century in forty seven balls with eight hit to the fence. Earlier he lost his partner S Vidyut caught by Mota off the bowling of Irfan Pathan for 6 when the score was on fourteen.

Thereafter he together with Suresh Raina who also scored an unbeaten half century saw them through to the final with 4.1 overs to spare. At the end Patel was not out on 51 while Raina was unbeaten on 55.
