World Bank extends deadline for essay competition for Sri Lankans

The World Bank has extended the deadline to June 5 for the Knowledge Economy essay competition launched in March 2008. Essay submissions will be now accepted online or by e-mail until midnight Sri Lanka time on June 5, 2008, the Bank said. The Bank in partnership with LIRNEasia, the Point Pedro Institute for Development and the Distance Learning Centre launched this essay competition for students and faculty members of higher education institutes of Sri Lanka, seeking views on how Sri Lank can build a Knowledge Economy.

The competition was launched simultaneously as the recent study “Building Sri Lanka’s Knowledge Economy by the World Bank South Asia Finance and Private Sector Development Unit.
